Direct comparison of multi and single-phase models depicting the drying process of refractory castables

Refractory castables are crucial for the production of steel and other materials. Upon heating, pressurization vapor within their pores is developed, which may lead to cracks even explosions. Numerical simulations valuable tools studying developing strategies prevent such phenomena during drying stage. These mathematical models categorized as single-phase or multiphase depending on whether moving phases considered individually represented by a single entity. In this paper, an unprecedented direct comparison approaches presented pointing out that could represent experimental results reasonable extent with some minor caveats. To fulfill task modelling were compared those obtained pressure temperature measurements using neutron tomography tests.
